Plan ahead for an evening of fun, food and entertainment. You will be served dinner, and our Drama Ministry will perform Dearly Departed a full-length comedy that is sure to have you in stitches. Performances are scheduled for July 24, 25 and 26 in the Salt House. Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m., and the show will follow the meal. Doors will open at 5:45.
TICKET SALES: Tickets will be on sale in the foyer of the church July 6 through July 20 at a cost of $15 per person. No tickets will be sold at the door. Contact the church office at 876-0527 if you have questions.
In the Baptist backwoods of the Bible Belt, the beleaguered Turpin family proves that living and dying in the South are seldom tidy and always hilarious. Despite their earnest efforts to pull themselves together for their father's funeral, the Turpin's other problems keep overshadowing the should-be solemn occasion. As the situation becomes fraught with mishap, first-born son Ray-Bud says to his long-suffering wife, "When I die, don't tell nobody. Just bury me in the backyard and tell everybody I left you." Amidst the chaos, the Turpins turn for comfort to their friends and neighbors, an eccentric community of misfits who just manage to pull together and help each other through their hours of need -- and finally, the funeral.
