About Good News Clubs

What is a Good News Club?
A Good News Club® is a non-denominational Bible club that meets once a week during the school year for an hour and a half right after school. It is open to all children who attend that school and to the family members of the volunteers who run the club. The club meets only on those days that school is in session. A signed permission slip must be completed on each child before they can attend club.

What to Expect
During the first twenty minutes of club, the children have a snack, recite their memory verse and share prayer requests. This is the relationship-building part of Club. The next seventy minutes is filled with songs, a Bible lesson with application to the child's life, Scripture memory and a missionary story -- all presented in a fun and exciting manner to keep the children engaged and learning.

Who is in Charge of the Club?
The Club is run by a team of volunteers who have been trained by representatives of Child Evangelism Fellowship®. Many of the volunteers come from the sponsoring church but do not have to come from any one church body. All volunteers have undergone an extensive background check to ensure the safety of all the children involved.

What Does the Good News Club Teach?
The Bible! We use God's Word and CEF® materials. We do not teach any denominational beliefs, and all of our workers must agree to teach only from this standpoint rather than incorporating any of their own denominational beliefs. We also teach the children how to have their own daily quiet time with the Lord.

Ways You Can Help!

  • Prayer Warriors - Our most important need in this ministry is prayer warriors! These clubs, as with any other ministry, cannot thrive or even survive without the faithful prayers of the saints! Please pray anytime you think of a Good News Club, and if you would like to be a part of our prayer team where specific requests are emailed to you (club needs and needs of the children), let us know.

  • Workers - We always need workers -- people who can commit to coming every week on club day to help with teaching, snacks, crowd control, bathroom breaks, administrative type tasks, etc. We also need people who can just pop in to help whenever they can fit it into their schedule, without committing to coming to club every week.

  • Occasional Needs - We also need those who can help with such occasional needs as baking (for a special party or when we bless the school staff), donating prizes for our treasure box, or helping with behind-the-scenes activities such as mailings, making copies, etc. Contact us, and we'll brainstorm together how best to plug you in!

  • Box Tops & Soup Labels for Education - The Good News Club is collecting Box Tops (the little coupons on cereal and lots of other grocery items that schools can turn in for money) and Campbell Soup Labels for Education to give to the school. This is one way we can help the school and continue to promote the Good News Club as well. If you would like to help, please leave your donations in the box at the church welcome center. We will be collecting these items on an ongoing basis.
