Adult Ministry

The Adult Discipleship Ministry seeks to encourage an inviting atmosphere as we GATHER for corporate worship, CONNECT to a Small Group, GROW together in spiritual maturity, and SERVE one another and give back to our community.

Gather Together

Following the tradition of the early church, and in obedience to the Holy Scriptures, we gather each weak in corporate worship for the purpose of glorifying God, celebrating His goodness, and renewing our minds and spirits for the days ahead. In this gathering, we celebrate with those who have found hope in Christ through baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and sit under the proclamation of the Word of God through preaching. 1 Timothy 4:13, “Until I come, devote yourselves to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching”.

Connect to a Small Group

While gathering for Sunday worship is central to what we do, connecting to a smaller group of people is where friendships are formed, needs are met, and accountability is found. Every Small Group in the list below is an open group to those curious about the Christian faith, new believers, and experienced Christians alike. These groups meet on Sunday mornings and would love to get to know you and hear your story. They deal with the Bible itself with occasional topical studies. Nehemiah 8:8, “They read out of the book of the law of God, translating and giving the meaning so that the people could understand what was read.”

Grow in Spiritual Maturity

Wednesday Evenings  6:00 – 7:30 pm

We have a number of groups that meet offsite and throughout the week that are more or less closed groups—studying a particular topic or issue for a set amount of time or are exclusive to members of FBCJ. These groups are intended as safe places for deep friendships around God’s Word and direct application of its teaching to our lives. These include Ministries to Men, Women, Seniors (65+), and Young Professionals, as well as Wednesday Night Bible Studies and DNA Discipleship Groups. To learn more about these groups Follow our church on social media and look for emails, worship guide announcements, and visit Events & Registration for times to connect.  1 Corinthians 12:12-13a, “For as the body is one and has many parts, and all the parts of that body, though many, are one body—so also is Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body. (See also Romans 12:2).

Women’s Ministry

Our women’s ministry seeks to have godly women mentoring, discipling, and befriending other women across generations, educational levels, and life experiences in the spirit of Titus 2. Together we seek to be better mothers, sisters, wives, and friends. Contact our church offices to be connected with our Women’s Ministry leaders.

Men’s Ministry

Our men’s ministry is a brotherhood that seeks to have men mentoring, discipling, befriending other men across generations, educational levels, and life experiences in line with Titus 2. Together we seek to be better fathers, brothers, husbands, and friends. Contact our church offices to be connected with our Men’s Ministry leaders.

Senior Adult Ministry

Our seniors’ ministry seeks to love those in our church who have loved us so well over the years. We offer regular gathering times, meals, and help for those that need support in their particular season of life. The ministry is FULL of the life and wisdom of those whose love for Jesus can be measured in decades rather than months or years. Attend our monthly gatherings every 2nd Tuesday at 11:00AM or contact our church offices to be connected with our Seniors’ Ministry leaders.

Young Professional’s Ministry

(ages 20-30)

While highly encouraged to join and benefit from our Men’s and Women’s ministries, we do offer specific events and gatherings for Young Professionals. College students should check out our Next Gen Ministries. Email Cody Hardin for more info.

GriefShare  ***BEGINS JANUARY 17
Facilitators: Dr. John and Cindy Goetsch
A GriefShare support group is a safe, welcoming place where people understand the difficult emotions of grief. Through this 13-week group, you’ll discover what to expect in the days ahead and what’s “normal” in grief. Since there are no neat, orderly stages of grief, you’ll learn helpful ways of coping with grief, in all its unpredictability-and gain solid support each step of the way.

DNA Discipleship Groups

A DNA group is closed group of 3-5 men or women who meet regularly for a set period of time for the purpose of growing together in Christ, holding one another accountable, and reproducing their lives in others. These are closed groups that seek to multiply deep, intentional, relational, discipleship.”

To join a DNA group, call our church offices or email Cody Hardin for more info.
