Sunday Evenings Opportunities
AXIS (5:00 – 6:15 pm/ Choir Suite)
AXIS is a worship arts ministry designed for 7th-12th grade students that meets every Sunday night. AXIS includes worship songs, drama elements, and creative movements purposed to draw people to the worship of God. Students who regularly participate in this ministry will be allowed to go on a summer mission trip where the students will perform for and serve others.
Centered (5:30 – 6:15 pm/ Choir Suite)
Centered is the brand new 5th and 6th grade creative arts ministry that meets every Sunday night in Room 212 and is led by a trained group of worship leaders. Centered gets students to participate in games, music, and drama. Students involved in Centered will also go on a Spring mission trip in 2019. Psalm 148:13 says, “Let them praise the name of the Lord, for His name alone is exalted; His majesty is above earth and heaven”. Through the different ways students will be engaged in Centered, the goal is simple: to praise the name of the Lord alone!
Mission Lab (5:30 – 6:15 pm / Deep End)
Mission Lab is offered for 5th-12th graders every Sunday night in the Deep End. This is an opportunity for students to learn about and participate in the mission of God at home and around the world. Students will be involved with different service projects as well as being taught key elements of God’s mission across the earth. The goal of this opportunity is to deepen students’ understanding of the Great Commission and how they are called to be a part of it!
Sunday Night Small Groups (6:15 pm – 7:00 pm/ Deep End)
Every Sunday night, Middle School Students will meet in small groups separated by gender. This will be an opportunity to spend time together, pray for one another, dig deeper into God’s Word, and have snacks together! A girl’s group and a guy’s group will be offered and led by faithful, trained adults who love God, His Word, and Middle School students. These groups will meet in the Deep End immediately after Centered, Mission Lab, and AXIS.
Wednesday Night Worship
Every Wednesday night, the FBC Joelton Student Ministry will meet for a worship service of prayer, praise, and Bible study in the Salt House. The High School Ministry and Middle School Ministry will meet together at the beginning of the service to worship God through prayer and singing songs of praise to Him. After this time, the High School Ministry and Middle School Ministry will split off into two separate teaching times. The Middle School Minister will present an engaging message that is specifically geared towards Middle School Students. After the teaching time, students will split into small groups for 10-15 minutes where students will discuss the message together and how to apply it to their lives.
Events & Opportunities
Home First Conference
The Home First Conference is designed to equip parents and all youth workers to better counsel, disciple, and lead students. This conference is for everyone who has kids or works with kids. It will be an encouraging time for every parent or teacher who comes. Must be 18 years of age or older to attend.
Disciple Now (DNOW)
Disciple Now will be a pivotal weekend in the life of students each year. High School and Middle School Students will enjoy an in-town weekend away at host homes provided by members of FBC Joelton. Students will participate in engaging times of worship, small groups, fellowship, and breakout sessions that will help students navigate relevant issues in their daily lives today. The times of worship, which are led by a guest speaker and worship band, will encourage and challenge students to go deeper in their relationship with Christ.
Every summer students grades 5th-12th will go to camp for 4-6 days. At camp students will have times of large group Bible study, small group Bible study and worship. They will also participate in several fun activities throughout the week.
Throughout the year, the Middle School Ministry will seek to lovingly serve the Church and community around us. We see that the life of Jesus was a life marked by humble service for all people. The Middle School Ministry strives to be a community that serves other people in humility, just as Jesus did. 1 John 4:11 says, “Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love another”. We love because God loved us first. Each service day will look different, but our goal will remain the same: to show the love of Christ through serving people!
Quarterly Parent Meetings
Every three months there will be a parent meeting for all students grades 5th – 12th. In the meetings, parents will be informed about upcoming events, cost, and due dates. Parents will also be informed of any possible struggles that students may be facing. During this time, parents will be equipped with the tools necessary to do family discipleship.
